|Title:||Graduate Assistant Strength Coach|
The Georgia College Department of Athletics has added Scott Smith as the first graduate assistant for strength and conditioning.
No stranger to Bobcat Athletics, Smith played college baseball at GC for three years and collected a volunteer experience as an assistant baseball coach with the baseball team. He holds a certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Smith had three stints as a strength and conditioning coach/intern with Minor League Baseball teams affiliated with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays. During his time in Minor League Baseball, Smith gained experience in exercise program implementation, corrective exercises for athlete rehabilitation as well as educating players in specific lifting and conditioning techniques.
His experience with athletes on the professional level will undoubtedly bring helpful expertise to the Georgia College strength and conditioning program.
"We're very excited to have Scott join the Bobcat family," Director of Athletics Wendell Staton said. "This athletic and academic collaboration is going to be a great help for student athletes at Georgia College."
Smith graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and is currently pursuing a Masters in Human Performance at Georgia College.
