  • Bobcat Men's Tennis Earns No. 7-Seed in PBC Tournament

    AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released the bracket for the 2017 PBC Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament, with Georgia College taking the No. 7-seed. The No. 7-seed Bobcats will be battling the Armstrong State University Pirates in their first match this weekend, which will begin Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. The tournament will be held in Florence, South Carolina at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center at Francis Marion University. Should the Bobcats advance after their match against the Pirates, they will either face No. 3-seed Lander University or No. 6-seed USC Aiken. If the Bobcats continue, the next match will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. Other match-ups in the tournament are No. 1-seed Columbus State University versus No. 8-seed Young Harris College. Also on Friday, No. 4-seed University of North Georgia will be up against No.5-seed Flagler College. The Bobcats finished the regular season at 9-10 overall with a 3-7 mark in PBC play. The Armstrong State Pirates finished their regular season with a 16-6 overall with a 9-1 in conference play. The Bobcats and the Pirates met once during the season resulting in a 7-2 win for ASU. The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
