Bobcat Nation Scoring for Scholarships
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Bobcat pride going once, going twice, sold to the best student-athlete! Georgia College gears up for its 13th Annual Athletic Auction to give its top athletes something to roar about.
In a theme “Blue and Green: That’s Our Team!”, GC will hold an auction to raise money for student-athlete scholarships April 9 at 6 p.m. in the Centennial Center. The event will have a silent auction as well as a traditional live auction for fans that can’t help but cheer for the Bobcats.
Tickets are $100 per couple and $500 per table and include dinner, an open bar and access to the auction items. Guests will also have a chance to participate in a $10,000 reverse raffle, and take home their winnings knowing they made an impact on student’s lives.
Family, friends, faculty and alumni are welcome to come and remember their glory days as well as give students a chance to excel on and off the field.
“The Athletic Auction raises funds to help us continue our mission of having quality kids represent us on the fields and in the community,” said Steve Barsby, assistant athletic director and head tennis coach. “It gives us a platform to show off these kids on a great night for athletics.”
Tickets are on sale now at the Centennial Center or by contacting the athletics department at (478) 445-6341. Tickets may also be purchased directly from GC Athletic Staff members.
“The most important goal we have is to graduate our student-athletes, and the funding that the auction provides for our student scholarship program is crucial to that end,” said Al Weston, sports information director. “It’s a great evening of fun, friendship and excitement as we get closer to giving away the $10,000 from the reverse raffle. I look forward to it every year.”
In past years, the auction has raised $35,000 to $40,000 going towards scholarships and projects for Georgia College student-athletes thanks to support form the loyal fans of the Bobcats.
“The annual GC reverse raffle and auction is a premier social event in Milledgeville,” said Wendell Staton, Athletic Director. “Your generosity directly supports scholarships for our program, which consistently sets the mark for excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and promoting community engagement.”
The GC Athletic Auction is a yearly event with a silent and traditional auction and reverse raffle open to students, faculty, and community members. All proceeds of the auction are donated to the Athletic Department to provide more scholarship opportunities for athletes.
