The Madness Comes To Milledgeville Thursday

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College basketball will kick off the 2010-11 season with the annual Midnight Madness festivities Thursday, Oct. 14 with doors opening at 10 p.m.

The pre-event tailgate will feature The Stumblin’ Toads band, and after the doors open, members of the Macon Fire Department will cook free pancakes for all in attendance.

Once inside, the program will honor its Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Champions in golf and baseball, as well as hold the three-point shootouts and dunk contest prior to the intersquad scrimmages at midnight.

Serving as the annual kickoff to the Bobcat basketball season, Georgia College holds the annual high-energy Midnight Madness event to introduce Bobcat Nation to the basketball teams, having a lot of fun in the process.

The scrimmage rosters for the men’s contest have been announced. Team Green, helmed by graduate assistant coach Dan Magrino, will have: seniors Josh Hurst (Athens, Ga.) and Reece Wiedeman (Suwannee, Ga.), junior Ryan Aquino (Roswell, Ga.), sophomores Ryan Legates (Marietta, Ga.) and JP Davis (Albany, Ga.), and freshmen Royal Thomas (Lagrange, Ga.) and Jordan Grant (Norcross, Ga.).

For Team Blue, under the direction of assistant coach Mark Gainous: Juniors Mike Augustine (Waterloo, Ill.) and Jared Holmes (Indianapolis), sophomores Nate Hamilton (Snellville, Ga.), Ryan Lively (Cumming, Ga.), and freshmen Joey Bell (Hinesville, Ga.) Aaron Robinson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Paul Son (Statesboro, Ga.).

Both the men’s and women’s basketball programs recorded 20-win seasons in 2009-10, each taking the PBC West Division Championship. The men’s hoops squad also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season.
