MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College department of athletics hosted its first “Girls & Women in Sports Day” Saturday, Dec. 3 and it’s hard to tell who had more fun, the young girls getting active in the Centennial Center, or the Bobcats themselves.
Free and open to youngsters from kindergarten through fifth grade, the Bobcats hosted the event in an effort to keep local girls active and enjoying sports.
“The event was a lot of fun, and something we can build upon for the future,” said Ginger Chaffinch, assistant athletic director and senior women’s administrator. “Both the girls and our student-athletes enjoyed the activities, and we can’t wait to do it bigger and better next year.”
Each women’s sports team at GC took turns playing games and as part of the event, the youngsters earned free admission to the Bobcat women’s basketball game against Allen University that evening.
