MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – To cap the fund-raising efforts for the 2012-13 school year, the Georgia College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the school’s first Make-A-Wish Athletics Semi-Formal Dance Saturday, April 27, raising an additional $700 for the cause.

Assistant Director of Athletics Ginger Chaffinch serves as the SAAC Advisor.

“It was a great turnout for the first year hosting the event,” she said. “Everyone had a great time and most importantly, we raised more funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We hope to grow upon this event to make it an annual mainstay in our philanthropic efforts.”

Senior Tyler Franks of the GC men’s tennis team served as the evening’s disc jockey, as members of the Georgia College athletic programs danced into the late hours of Saturday evening for a great cause.

Director of Athletics Wendell Staton was impressed with the student-athlete turnout for the event.

"I have always said that the most impressive thing about our University is our students, and their resourcefulness with this event reiterates that concept,” he said. “It was a great night and we have an absolutely outstanding group of student-athletes who understand the big picture."
