Bobcat Cross Country Unveils 2013 Schedule
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College cross country teams and head coach Joe Samprone released its 2013 schedule Wednesday, with the annual Bobcat Invitational coming Friday, Sept. 13.
The Bobcat harriers take to the course in five regular-season meets, starting with the PBC Pre-Conference race at Georgia Southwestern State University Sept. 7.
The Bobcat Invitational comes a week later, Sept. 13 on the West Campus Cross Country Course, weaving through GC’s West Campus facilities starting at 6 p.m.
Georgia College then makes the first of two lengthy trips, heading to Wenham, Mass. for the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College Oct. 4. Oct. 12 brings the USC Aiken Invitational, prior to the regular-season ending jaunt to Newport News, Va. for the CNU Short-Course Invitational, hosted by Christopher Newport University Oct. 12.
The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Champion will be crowned Oct. 26 in Americus, Ga., as Georgia College will look to improve upon a sixth place finish for the men and fifth place spot for the women. The NCAA Southeast Regional will be in Charlotte, N.C. at regional power Queens University Nov. 9.
The Bobcat cross country teams were led by their youth in 2012, with sophomore Taylor Roeck (Cumming, Ga.) posting team-low times in five of the team’s six races. The men’s side featured a number of impact freshman a year ago, including Paul McNeil (Dunwoody, Ga.) and James Ryden (Atlanta).
