Bobcat Tennis Adds Two for Coaching Staff

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College tennis programs and head coach Steve Barsby announced the addition of recent graduates Wictor Andersson and Kayla Barksdale to return as assistant coaches.

Both Andersson and Barksdale were four-year players for the Bobcats, finishing their playing careers this past season.

“Having a guy with Wic’s background as a tennis player and his involvement with the SAAC over the past few years will be a tremendous asset to the growth of our program both on and off the court," said Barsby.

Andersson ended his career with 77 spring season victories, including a 16-7 singles mark as a senior. He will assist with all facets of coaching the men’s and women’s tennis programs, and will pursue a master’s degree in business management.

“Kay is a winner both on and off the court and exudes what our program is about in trying to develop the total student-athlete, we are very excited for her to be joining our staff," Barsby added.

Barksdale was a three-time All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selection in doubles, all three coming with different partners. She finished with 90 career wins in the spring, with a massive 20-5 singles record this past season. In addition to her tennis duties, Barksdale will also assist the Athletic Department administration in community engagement activities. She is pursuing a master’s degree in business management.
