AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) released its Men’s and Women’s Basketball All-Academic Teams Friday, with two Georgia College student-athletes receiving honors.
Junior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) earned a 3.37 GPA in Mathematics to earn honors on the women’s side, and third-year counterpart Issac Thomas (Trion) posted a 3.53 GPA in Accounting.
The academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution.
This is Cleveland’s second straight year on the All-Academic team and Thomas’ second time receiving the honor as well.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup and the 2017 PBC Sportsmanship Institution of the Year, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
