MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior Women’s Administrator Ginger Chaffinch has announced the new president, vice president and athletic representatives of the 2010-11 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

SAAC is made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes’ lives on NCAA member institution campuses. Presently, there are separate national SAACs for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. NCAA legislation mandates that all member institutions have SAACs on their respective campuses. Further, NCAA legislation requires that all member conferences have SAACs.

Josh Hurst, senior on the men’s basketball team, will serve as president for the 2010-11 season while sophomore Kali Carswell of the softball team will serve as the vice president. Hurst was a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Presidential Scholar last year and named to both the PBC All-Academic Team and the NABC 2009-10 Honors Court. Carswell was listed a PBC Presidential Scholar last season.

“We have a combination of returners and newcomers that certainly makes us a good group of representatives this season,” said Chaffinch. “The new president and vice president have a lot of energy which will make us successful in fund raising and reaching the community.”

This year, the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) has set a goal for each member school to raise $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
