Bobcat Athletic Alumni Day Set for Oct. 24

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College & State University Department of Athletics will host its annual Alumni Day Saturday, Oct. 24. Former Bobcats and Colonials are welcomed back with a full day's worth of events.

Despite receding hairlines and expanding waistlines, the Bobcat Athletic Alumni Day is always a great amount of fun, featuring games and get-togethers for former baseball, softball, and men's and women's basketball student-athletes.

"We look forward to welcoming our alumni back to campus as we pay tribute to those who set the bar of excellence so high during their time as student-athletes," said athletic director Wendell Staton. "It will be a great opportunity to have our alumni connect with our current student-athletes and coaches as we work to continue the success and rich tradition of Bobcat Athletics."

TThings kick-off at 1 p.m. when the baseball, softball and men's basketball alumnus will be in action. The baseball home run derby starts at 1 p.m. at John Kurtz Field on GCSU's West Campus, with the alumni game beginning at 2 p.m. Men's basketball will be in action at the Centennial Center. Also at 1 p.m., the softball team holds its alumni game at the Peeler Complex on West Campus.

At 2 p.m. the women's basketball game begins at the state-of-the-art Centennial Center.

To wrap up the day, Georgia College will host a cookout in the pavilion at the West Campus athletic fields, leading into the 4 p.m. Bobcat women's soccer match against Columbus State University at Bobcat Field. At the cookout, alumni will be given free Alumni Day T-shirts with the opportunity to purchase additional shirts for friends and family.

It will be a busy day as always in Milledgeville, as other community events include Georgia College's annual Family Day and the Deep Roots Festival downtown.
