MARTINEZ, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) announced its second annual PBC Tennis All-Academic Teams Wednesday, with a pair of Bobcats picked for the honor. Seniors Diane Danna (Paris, France) and Max Beliankou (Minsk, Belarus) were chosen for the women’s and men’s teams, respectively.
Danna, an All-PBC honoree in both singles and doubles this season, was chosen for the second team thanks in large part to her 3.39 GPA in rhetoric. The No. 48 player in the country as ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Danna also teamed up with Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) for a 12-10 mark in doubles, both records coming completely at the first position. She is the first member of Bobcat women’s tennis to be chosen for this honor.
Beliankou, the No. 49 national player, was named to the PBC All-Academic First Team. He owns a 3.26 GPA in marketing with a psychology minor. He has a team-high 16 singles wins (16-3), including an 8-1 conference mark. He also owns a 12-9 doubles record, going 9-6 with Giovane Nucci (Santa Catarina, Brazil). Beliankou is the second Georgia College netter on the men’s side to take home this honor.
The Bobcats are back in action at the NCAA Regional Tournaments this week. Danna and the Bobcat women travel to Morrow, Ga. to take on Lincoln Memorial University Thursday, May 6 at noon.
