GC Athletes Read to Local Elementary Schools

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College Men’s Basketball and Women’s Soccer participated in an event called “Read for the Record” Oct. 25 at local elementary schools in Baldwin County.

This event, sponsored by a partnership between Communities in Schools and United Way, encouraged members of the Milledgeville community to take time out of their day to read to local children and help get them excited about reading and learning.

Senior Women’s Soccer player Sofia Lekas (Lizella) said on the event, “We read a book to the kids and the message [of the book] was seeing the good in the bad. It’s always great helping the community and giving back to them, also the kids love and get excited when they see new faces!”

GC Athletics continues to show excellence on the field and in the community, promoting a positive and healthy educational experience for students of all ages.
