MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 3 Georgia College baseball team (13-2) beat Philadelphia University (0-4) 8-4 Sunday, finishing off a four-game sweep of the Rams. GC out-scored PhilaU 76-8 over the four games.
The Bobcats scored in each of the first five innings, opening up a 7-2 lead. GC stole nine bases on the day.
Rightfielder Shawn Ward (Evans, Ga.) was one of the biggest sluggers today, hitting 3-for-4 with two RBI, while scoring three runs and ripping his first home run of the young season. Leftfielder Ikaika Anderson (Austell, Ga.) also homered as part of his 2-for-5 day, scoring twice and driving in one. Second baseman Luke McKay (Augusta, Kan.) added his first GC home run, a solo blast.
Junior righty Chris George (Woodstock, Ga.) got his first career victory (1-0), throwing five innings, allowing just three hits and two runs while fanning seven.
GC remains undefeated at home, a perfect 9-0.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 1 at 3 p.m. taking on Benedict College at John Kurtz Field.
