#24 GC Baseball to Serve as Miracle League “Buddies” Friday

MACON, Ga. – As part of their ongoing relationship with the Macon Miracle League, the No. 24 Georgia College baseball team (24-14, 9-9 PBC) and head coach Tom Carty are proud to announce the Bobcats will serve as Miracle League Buddies for games Friday night.

With the slogan of “Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball” The Miracle League provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The league utilizes an ADA approved synthetic rubber turf field that allows all children with special needs an opportunity to play on a “level”-playing surface. The Miracle League allows these children an opportunity to finally play baseball for the first time in their lives.

The biggest little fan of the Bobcats, Dy’Lon Rayford will in action Friday night. The 7-year-old Rayford threw out a pitch at Miracle League Day at GC Baseball a year ago, and will do so again Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. as the Bobcats host their Second Annual Miracle League game against Erskine College.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, back-to-back winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
