Milledgeville, Ga.- Senior catcher Richard Pirkle (Norcross, Ga.) catcher of the Georgia College baseball team (2-1) was named GC Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 13, as announced by the sports information department today.
Pirkle enjoyed a fantastic weekend as the Bobcats won the series 2-1 over No. 5 University of Tampa. He went 6-for-13 on the weekend while belting two home runs, two doubles and knocking in two RBI. Pirkle also scored five runs including the go-ahead run in the final game of the series.
The Georgia College baseball team will play a doubleheader at University of West Georgia Friday Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
