MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior shortstop Tanner Funk (Kearney, Mo.) of the No. 15 Georgia College baseball team (35-15) was chosen Bobcat Athlete of the Week for the Week ending May 1. This marks the first such honor for Funk and the third for Bobcat baseball this season.
Funk went 9-for-15 (.600) over the four games this week, powering GC to a sweep of No. 14 Armstrong Atlantic. He drove in four runs and scored six. His best contest was the doubleheader opener against AASU Saturday, going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs, including a home run.
The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, May 8 at 9 a.m., beginning the 2011 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament against East No. 3 seed UNC Pembroke.
