MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Collegiate Baseball Magazine recently released its second Division II National Poll, with the Georgia College baseball team (2-1) pulling down the No. 30 slot.
GC baseball took a weekend series 2-1 from King College last week, and will host No. 5 University of Tampa (3-0) this week.
The Bobcats are sixth among the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) schools listed in the poll, led by Francis Marion University in sixth. Columbus State University is ninth, followed by No. 16 UNC Pembroke, No. 22 Armstrong and No. 28 USC Aiken.
The Bobcats are led at the plate by Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.), as the sophomore second baseman hit .444 (4-9) for the opening weekend, with three RBI and two runs. Junior righty Darin Wiltgen (Reno, Nev.) provided a boost on the hill, tossing a seven-inning complete game Friday night in a 5-4 win.
GC takes on the Tampa Spartans Friday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader, with free hot dogs as part of Homecoming Week promotions. The series finishes Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.
