GC Baseball Alum Gets Pro Career Started in a Big Way
PASKO, Wash. – Former Georgia College baseball player Richard Pirkle (2007-11) recently recorded his first professional hit and home run in the same evening, a big day for the former Bobcat.
Pirkle recorded both of his Tri-City Dust Devils’ team hits in a 3-2 loss to the Spokane Indians Sunday. His second hit, a two-run home run, brought the team within one in the eighth.
Said the 35th round pick of the Colorado Rockies in the game recap on MILB.com: "It's definitely exciting to get the hits, but it's about winning ballgames."
Pirkle is now 2-for-8 in his three-game professional career, driving in two and scoring once.
