MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team and head coach Tom Carty are happy to host the program's annual Miracle League Day, coming up Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. when the Bobcats host Toccoa Falls College.
With the slogan of "Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball" The Miracle League provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The league utilizes an ADA approved synthetic rubber turf field that allows all children with special needs an opportunity to play on a "level"-playing surface. The Miracle League allows these children an opportunity to finally play baseball for the first time in their lives.
Nine-year-old Dy'Lon Rayford will be back to throw a ceremonial first pitch for the fourth season, and may be joined by other Miracle Leaguers. The Bobcat baseball crew will also be taking donations to support the foundation.
Each year, Bobcat baseball has also served as Miracle League "Buddies" assisting Rayford and others in a game that they have grown to love so much. The Bobcats look to keep this growing relationship going with the Miracle League, as they will work as Buddies for a game Friday, April 26.
