DUE WEST, S.C. - Pounding a season-high six home runs, the No. 24 Georgia College baseball team (25-10) dominated Erskine College (23-19) 15-5 Wednesday.
The Flying Fleet posted a 3-0 lead after the first two frames. The Bobcats responded in a big way in the third, bringing home eight runs on six hits, including two of the six round-trippers.
The Bobcats took over from there, not allowing Erskine another run after the fourth inning.
Reliever Jordan Modine (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) picked up the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings with a single hit and strikeout for his first victory as a Bobcat (1-0).
Second baseman Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.) tagged two home runs in the win, finishing 3-for-6 with three RBI and three runs. He now has three home runs in the last two games. Rightfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.) and centerfielder Ikaika Anderson (Austell, Ga.) each hit home runs as well, Sandlin posting his team-best sixth dinger while Anderson went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Ardeeser was 2-for-5 with the four RBI, and Hinshaw posted a 2-for-4 effort with two runs and two RBI. Leftfielder Rob Hogenkamp (St. Louis, Mo.) continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one driven in.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 12 at 5 p.m., traveling to Columbus State University.
