MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Mich.) of the No. 25 Georgia College baseball team (36-19) was named Bobcat Athlete of the Week for his efforts during the week ending May 19.
Hazel had a hot bat for Georgia College at the 2013 NCAA Southeast Regional Championship, hitting .556 (10-18) with seven RBI and six runs scored over five games. He posted multi-hit games in four of the five contests, including home runs against Lincoln Memorial University and eventual region champion Coker College.
The season has come to a close for the Bobcats, a year where they went 36-19, winning the first PBC Tournament Championship in school history, and came two wins short of a trip to the College World Series. The Bobcats put three on the All-PBC Teams, and Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) has been recognized as all-region by two organizations.
