AUGUSTA, Ga. – On the strength of a complete-game effort, Justin Blue (Mulberry, Fla.) of the Georgia College baseball team (18-9, 10-5 PBC) was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Blue pitched a complete-game six-hitter as the Bobcats downed Augusta State University 7-1 Sunday to open a three-game series. The junior righty struck out five with three walks and set down the side in order twice to pick up his third complete game of the year. Blue has started more games than any other pitcher in the league with eight and is ranked among the league’s top-10 in wins, shutouts and ERA.
All-time, the Bobcats have taken home 28 PBC Pitcher of the Week honors, dating back to the first year the award was issued in 1993. Blue is the first for the Bobcats since May 3, 2010, when Martin Dewald was chosen.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 29 at noon, playing two non-conference contests at Pfeiffer University.
