MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College baseball team and head coach Tom Carty have released the 2013 schedule, featuring 26 home contests.
The Bobcats start the year off at home, hosting a three-game set with Mars Hill College a doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. with a single contest Sunday, Feb. 3 at noon.
GC baseball has a tall order for its first road series, traveling to No. 8 University of Tampa for three contests a week later. Georgia College takes on three teams that were nationally-ranked at the end of the 2012 season.
Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play begins at Flagler College Feb. 23 and 24. After another PBC series at UNC Pembroke, the Bobcats finally get a home conference trifecta starting with a single game Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. doubleheader action follows the next day at 1 p.m.
The annual Alumni Weekend comes March 23-24, as the Bobcats host Augusta State University for a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. with a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Bobcats host Toccoa Falls University Wednesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. for Miracle League Day. GC baseball renews its yearly relationship with the organization that helps the developmentally disabled get the opportunity to play baseball.
Senior Day will come Sunday, April 28 as Georgia College wraps up a three-game set with the University of Montevallo.
GC baseball is fresh off a 29-21 season in 2012, a year in which the Bobcats battled for the PBC title up until the last weekend. The Bobcats return two All-PBC honorees from a year ago, including designated hitter Cody Maas (Alpharetta, Ga.) and reliever Matt LaMothe (Troy, Mich.). Maas was named to both the All-Southeast Region Team and the Jewish All-America squad as well.
