#21 Bobcat Baseball Reveals 2014 Slate

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College men's baseball team and head coach Tom Carty are proud to unveil the 2014 Bobcat baseball schedule. The Bobcats have 27 home contests and feature 11 matchups against nationally-ranked opponents.

Following a terrific campaign which saw the Bobcats pull down the first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament title in school history while finishing 36-19, the Bobcat Baseball team begins their season with eight home games, starting with a three-game series against King College Feb. 8-9.

The Bobcats then host the defending National Champions, No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans the following weekend for a three-game set with a doubleheader starting the series Feb. 15.

Conference play begins to heat up when Flagler College comes to town for a three-game weekend set Feb. 21-23.

The Bobcats then welcome another PBC foe, No. 27 UNC Pembroke for a three-game series March 1-2.

Not only do the Bobcats play the defending National Champion Spartans from Tampa, but they also host No. 24 Valdosta State University and Winston-Salem State University April 16 and April 22, respectively in non-conference action. Both teams made it to the 2013 NCAA Regionals last season.

After a busy April which sees the Bobcats play 18 games in just 27 days, Georgia College finishes the regular season with a three-game set against PBC opponent the University of North Georgia in Milledgeville May 3-4.

Postseason play begins for the Bobcats May 7 with the Peach Belt Tournament where the Bobcats will be looking to defend their title.

NCAA Regional play runs May 15-19 with the NCAA Division II World Series taking place May 24-31 in Cary, N.C.

The Bobcats return all three All-PBC honorees from a year ago, as All-Region shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) joins first baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) and outfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.). The Bobcats will look to make it back-to-back trips to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2009-2010.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
