#26 GC Baseball Crushes Newberry, 16-7

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – With eight different batters tallying RBI, the No. 26 Georgia College baseball team (11-4) clubbed Newberry College 16-7 Tuesday at John Kurtz Field.

The Bobcats scored in every inning except the sixth, and took advantage of four Newberry errors. Georgia College also stole six bases, never trailing the game.

First baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs. Also scoring three times was leftfielder Ryan Sabalaskey (Carol Stream, Ill.), going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI as well.

Third baseman Mike McGraw (Newnan, Ga.) was 2-for-4 with a triple, two driven in, and a run. Catcher Steve Hazel (Kentwood, Mich.) added a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and a run.

Rightfielder Jake Sandlin (Evans, Ga.), shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) and designated hitter Taylor Hinshaw (Winder, Ga.) each tallied two hits, with Bick and Sandlin driving in two and scoring two apiece. Hinshaw drove in one and scored another.

Reliever Jordan Modine (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) picked up his first win of the season (1-0), tossing three scoreless innings. The senior righty allowed one hit with no walks and struck out one. Modine teamed with Kyle Ward (Rincon, Ga.) and Micah Thompson (Tallapoosa, Ga.) to hold the Wolves scoreless for the final four frames.

Newberry starter Jonathan Rosenberger fell to 1-3 on the loss, unable to escape the second inning. Third baseman Albert Baur went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, swatting a home run in the third.

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 7 at 6 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
