MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Georgia College infielder Brandon Benson (Loganville, Ga.) earned the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Freshman of the Week award in the latest installment from AstroTurf.
In four games last week, Benson hit .429 while earning five RBIs and five runs of his own. On top of that, he tallied a .857 slugging percentage, a .529 on-base percentage, and was perfect in 24 chances at second base.
In his best two games, a doubleheader against the Clark Atlanta University Panthers, Benson went 5 for 7 and collected two triples. He currently stands at second place in triples in the entire PBC.
Other players earning honors in the weekly award were USC Aiken's Ty Barkell and UNC Pembroke's Jordan DeLoatch, who earned Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
Benson and the rest of the No. 6 ranked Georgia College Bobcats will travel to South Carolina tomorrow to face the Erskine College Flying Fleet. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
