Bobcat Baseball Geared Up for NCAA Regionals
GREENWOOD, S.C. – The NCAA announced the fields for the NCAA Division II Baseball Regional Tournaments Sunday, with Georgia College (34-15) getting the No. 5-seed in the Southeast Region.
The Bobcats have drawn No. 2-seed Mount Olive College (40-11) in the first round, set for Thursday, May 15 at 3 p.m. at host Lander University.
The other matchups for the Southeast Region are No. 1-seed Lander taking on No. 6-seed Catawba College, and No. 3-seed Columbus State University will battle No. 4-seed USC Aiken in the double-elimination tournament.
The Bobcats boast one of the most potent offenses in the Southeast, ranking first in the nation in on-base percentage (.445) and runs per game (9.7). The Bobcats also rank third in home runs per game (1.14) and fourth in slugging percentage (.521).
Shortstop Daniel Bick (Alpharetta, Ga.) ranks fourth in all of Division II in runs per game at 1.29, ranking fifth in RBI per contest at 1.30 is designated hitter Taylor Hinshaw (Winder, Ga.). First baseman Clay Ardeeser (Loganville, Ga.) is .01 behind in eighth place.
The regional selection marks the second straight for Georgia College baseball, last year advancing to Championship Sunday before falling to Region Titleholder Coker College.
