MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 13 Georgia College Baseball team (28-2, 20-2 PBC) had to come from behind twice, but finally outlasted Flagler College (28-13, 15-7 PBC) 8-7 at John Kurtz Field Friday.

The win gives the Bobcats 20 victories in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, the first 20-win season in conference play since 2007, the last time the Bobcats won the PBC Regular-Season title by going 23-7.

The Bobcats were down 7-5 into the seventh, Georgia College starting a rally with two out. Logan Mattix (Loganville) got it started with a single to right. Senior Nate Schmal (Cumming) followed with a single to right that was mis-played by the rightfielder, the ensuing throw missed the cutoff man for the second error on the play, as Mattix scored, cutting the lead to 7-6 and setting up Brandon Purcell's (Glennville) heroics.

Purcell jumped all over a pitch for a moon-shot home run that cleared the scoreboard in left center. The home run was his third this season, and the 24th of his career. He finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs.

Rightfielder Brandt Stallings (Buford) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Designated hitter Wesley Wommack (Monroe) had three hits in four trips, scoring twice.

Reliever Bradly Cammack (Soperton) threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings for the win, improving to 9-1. He scattered four hits and fanned four while not walking a batter.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 14 at 1 p.m. finishing the series with the Saints in a doubleheader.
