MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 6 Georgia College Baseball team (4-1) suffered its first loss of the 2019 season Friday, falling 7-0 to No. 2 University of Tampa (2-2) Friday night at John Kurtz Field.

The damage was done in the second, as five runs came across on four hits and one costly error.

The Bobcat bats were held in check by Tampa starter Keven Pimentel (1-1), as he went seven innings, scattering five hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

Georgia College threatened a handful of times, including a triple from catcher Jay Saunders (Moultrie) but couldn't scratch a run across.

Leftfielder Jayson Cook (Smyrna) was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Senior Bradly Cammack (Soperton) took the hard-luck loss, throwing 5 2/3 with three earned runs and fanning four (1-1).

A highlight on the hill was senior reliever Chandler Amason (Grayson), throwing 2 1/3 strong innings, allowing a single run and striking out five.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 9 in a doubleheader with the Spartans at 1 p.m.
