DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Georgia College & State University cheerleading squad and head coach Jimmy Redus picked up the fourth spot in the Small School Co-Ed group at the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) Championships April 12.
Fellow peach state school Valdosta State University earned the National Championship trophy with a 9.380 score. The Bobcats posted an 8.491. Ahead of Georgia College were Blinn College at 9.152 and Midwestern State University at 8.689. The Bobcats beat defending National Champion Hawaii Pacific University, who put up an 8.473 in fifth.
The fourth-place finish comes a year after not making it past the preliminary round in 2008. The Bobcat cheerleading team has the most National Championships of any athletic program at GCSU, garnering national titles in 1998, 1999 and 2001.
