Bobcat Golf Earns Pair of #2 Rankings

>>>GolfStat HTH Rankings
>>>GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division II Poll

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Powered by a tournament win in an amazingly-tough field at the Bobcat Invitational this past week, Georgia College & State University golf and head coach Jimmy Wilson have brought in two different No. 2 rankings, both in the GolfStat Division II Head-To-Head Statistics and the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Top-25.

The GolfStat rankings are a true measure of a team's success, as a mathematical formula is tabulated using stroke average and number of teams beaten by the Bobcats. Georgia College is just behind fellow Peach Belt Conference (PBC) squad Columbus State University.

The No. 2 slot for the Bobcats in the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) poll is the highest in program history. Voted on by a committee of national Division II coaches, the results appear in Golf World Magazine. The Bobcats obviously impressed here, as seven coaches picked GCSU as the top team in the nation, the most first-place votes given to any team. CSU is the lone team ahead of the Bobcats here as well.

The Bobcats have finished in the top five in each of their five tournaments this spring. Georgia College is led by junior Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden), posting a 71.8 stroke average and six top-10 finishes this season. Classmate Francisco Bide (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was recently named PBC Golfer of the Week and GCSU Athlete of the Week after winning the Bobcat Invitational Individual Medalist.

The Bobcats are back in action Monday, April 20 at the PBC Championships, hosted by UNC Pembroke.
