Georgia College Golf #1 in GolfStat National Rankings
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - On the strength of a team title this week at the Matlock Collegiate Invitational, the Georgia College & State University golf team, guided by head coach Jimmy Wilson, is the top squad in all of Division II golf in the most recent GolfStat National Head-to-Head Rankings.
Georgia College is listed first, one slot ahead of Barry University. Chico State holds down the No. 3 slot, while Central Missouri is fourth, the University of North Alabama fifth and Florida Southern College sixth. Nova Southeastern comes in No. 7, as Belmont Abbey College, Western Washington University and Lynn University round out the top-10.
The GolfStat Rankings take into effect strength of schedule, head-to-head finishes, and stroke average to attempt to mathematically rank the top teams in collegiate golf.
The next highest Peach Belt Conference (PBC) school would be Lander University in No. 11.
The Bobcats return to the links after a week off Monday, March 1 at the Richard Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba College.
