MARTINEZ, Ga. – Senior Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden) of the No. 2 Georgia College & State University golf team was named the most recent Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced. This is the second such honor for Johansson and the fourth for the Bobcat golf team this season.
Johansson turned in one of the most consistent performances in the PBC this year with a 71-73-70 at the prestigious Southeastern Collegiate in Valdosta, Ga. Johansson’s final round 70 put him in a three-way tie for first place with Chad Smith of Valdosta State University and Matt Stauch of Florida Southern College. Smith won the playoff with a birdie on the first hole, but for Johansson it was his second top-five of the season and second consecutive top-10. Georgia College finished third in the 18-team event, lowest of any PBC school and only two strokes out of second.
The Bobcats return to action Monday, March 22, hosting the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.
