MARTINEZ, Ga. - Senior Niclas Johansson (Skanor, Sweden) of the No. 1 Georgia College & State University golf squad was named Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced. This is the first such honor for Johansson this season, and the second for the Bobcats in the three weeks of the award.
Johansson turned in his third straight top-10 in three events this year as he finished tied for fifth at the State Farm-Laker Intercollegiate Classic. The senior fired rounds of 70 and 69 to finish at five-under-par 139, six strokes out of the lead in the rain-shortened event. Johansson was the lowest-scoring PBC golfer in a thick field of 16 teams that featured eight other PBC schools. His performance helped top-ranked Georgia College to a second-place finish overall.
He is the second Bobcat to take the weekly honor this season, after classmate Francisco Bide (Buenos Aires, Argentina) was selected in week one.
The Bobcats are back in action Oct. 5-6 at the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State University.
