MARTINEZ, Ga. – Senior Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) of the No. 4 Georgia College golf team was named the Peach Belt Conference’s (PBC) Golfer of the Week the conference office announced. This is the first honor for Young this season, and the second for the Bobcat golf squad.
Young was stellar at the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate this week, finishing third overall with a nine-under-par 207. The senior fired an opening-round 67 and followed that up with two rounds of 70, becoming one of only five golfers to shoot each of the three rounds under par. Young finished one stroke out of a tie for first between Davidson University's Richard Fountain and Georgia Southern University's Logan Blondell. 14 teams competed at the Mizuno, 12 of them Division I schools. For the season, Young leads the PBC with a 70.9 stroke average and five of his eight rounds so far have been under par.
The tournament brings to a close the fall season for Bobcat golf.
