MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College athletics department is proud to announce senior golfer Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.) as Georgia College Athlete of the Week.

The senior led the Bobcats to a fourth place finish at the Bobcat Invitational this past weekend.

Young himself finished second overall, posting a season-low 67 in the final round of the tournament.  The 67 was the lowest score recorded in the final round of the tournament.

Young posted rounds of 71 and 73 on day one to finish one over par and remain in contention for a top-5 finish.  He has lowered his impressive stoke average to just 71.2.

The Georgia College golf team continues its season Monday April 11, when they head to Savannah, Ga. for the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships.  They are coming off an impressive third place finish at the Bearcat Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday.

The Georgia College Department of Athletics, back-to-back winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, Bobcat Athletics prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the teams' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
