DESTIN, Fla. – Led by senior Joe Young (Cochran, Ga.), the No. 6 Georgia College golf team finished with a score of 883, good enough for a sixth place finish at the Sandestin Collegiate Championship hosted by No. 11 University of West Florida. Nine of the top 25 teams in the country competed in the tournament.
Young finished tied for 16th overall with rounds of 72, 70 and 76 on on the par 71 course.
Lynn University won the tournament with a team score of 864 while Peach Belt Conference (PBC) member No. 16 Columbus State University finished second two strokes behind the leader. Delta State University finished third (874), Drury University at fourth (875) and No. 11 West Florida finished fifth (876).
Chase Smith of Delta State was the low medalist with 211 firing rounds of 68, 73 and 70.
The Bobcats return to the links Oct. 4-5 in the Aflac Invitational hosted by Columbus State University.
