#14 GC Golf Fourth after Kiawah Invitational Round One

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 14 Georgia College golf team is locked in a three-way tie for fourth place after round one Monday at the Kiawah Island Invitational. The Bobcats start the 2011-12 season fourth in the 17-team field at plus-8 on the par-72, 6,875-yard Cougar Point Golf Course.

Sophomore Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) leads the team at even par, good for 11th place. Junior Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) is a stroke behind in 15th place.

Carding a 74, junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) is 21st, while freshman Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) posted a 77 in 43rd place. Newcomer Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) put up an 81 for 64th.

The Bobcats are eight over par at 296, 12 off the pace set by Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foe Georgia Southwestern State University. Another PBC school, host USC Aiken is second at five over par.

GC golf finishes the two-day tourney with the second and final round tomorrow, Sept. 6.
