#14 GC Golf Fifth in Day One of Sandestin Collegiate

DESTIN, Fla. – The No. 14 Georgia College golf squad is fifth after two rounds at the Sandestin Collegiate Championship, hosted by the University of West Florida. The Bobcats posted rounds of 298 and 288 for 586, at plus-18. 

Junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) leads the Bobcats after the two rounds and is 13th overall at three-over par on the par-71, 6,875-yard Raven Golf Club. The former All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) selection rebounded from a first-round 75 for his third round under par this season with a 70.

Senior Jeff Rives (Roswell, Ga.) is 19th in his first tournament of the season, following a 75 with a 71 for four-over par. Also in his first action this year, sophomore Gavin Harper (Twin City, Ga.) is 27th at plus-six after two rounds, the All-PBC honoree following a 75 with a 73.

Sophomore Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) is 36th with a team first-round low 73 followed with a 78 for nine-over par. Rookie David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) is 43rd, posting a 79 and 74 for 11-over par.

No. 7 UWF is the team leader at plus-six, two strokes ahead of No. 16 Newberry College. The Bobcats are better than two teams in the nation's top-25, No. 21 Florida Southern College and No. 13 Columbus State University. The individual lead is a tie between Newberry's Ben Firebaugh and Lynn University's Marcelo Rozo at three-under par.

The third and final round tees off tomorrow morning.
