DESTIN, Fla. – The No. 14 Georgia College golf program jumped one spot to No. 4 on the final day of the Sandestin Collegiate Championship, hosted by No. 7 University of West Florida.
The par-71, 6,875-yard Raven Golf Club posed as no match for the Bobcats on the final day of the tournament, shooting a combined three-over par (287). The Bobcats totaled 873 (+21) strokes for the three round tournament, 10 strokes behind third place West Florida and 14 strokes off the leader, No. 2 Lynn University. No. 16 Newberry College finished in second place with 862 strokes.
Junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) aided the Bobcats shooting a 71 on the final day for a total of 216, good for a tie for sixth place. Rookie David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) rebounded on his final day, tying Garrett for the team best score, 71, finishing in a tie for 33rd place with sophomore Gavin Harper (Twin City, Ga.) at 224. Harper shot a 76 on the final day.
Senior Jeff Rives (Roswell, Ga.) finished in a tie for 16th, shooting two-over on the final day, totaling 219 strokes. Sophomore Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) finished one-over par on the final day, edging out teammates Harper and Sullivan with a final score of 223, good for a tie in 31st place.
The Bobcats square-off in their final tournament of the fall season Oct. 3-4, at the Aflac Invitational hosted by Columbus State University.
