EATONTON, Ga. – With two golfers in the top-20, No. 25 Georgia College sits fifth after two rounds Monday at its host tournament, the 2012 Bobcat Intercollegiate at the Golf Club at Cuscowilla.
Georgia College shot rounds of 288 and 279 for a total of seven-over par, tied with No. 2 Lynn University in fifth. No. 1 Barry University sits atop the standings at six-under par with rounds of 274 and 280 on the par-70, 6,847-yard course.
Freshman Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) leads the team in 16th place, following a 71 with a 69 for even par. Classmate Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) is one stroke behind in 20th, carding rounds of 72 and 69.
Junior Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) also improved upon a first-round 72 with a 70 in round two for 23rd place. Classmate Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) shot rounds of 73 and 71 for four-over par in 32nd.
Rookie David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) shaved four strokes off his first-round 75 for a six-over par in 45th.
The Bobcats put two individuals in the field as well, as rookie Tyler Tucker (Cochran, Ga.) shot rounds of 78 and 70, finishing 58th. Sophomore Pontus Andersson (Helsingborg, Sweden) was 76th, carding rounds of 74 and 79.
Barry's Marcus Segerstrom blitzed the course with rounds of 65 and 66 for a nine-under par bettering Lynn's Daniel Young by three strokes.
The final round gets underway tomorrow, March 20 with Sullivan getting things started for GC at 9:10 a.m. with golfers from No. 9 UNC Pembroke and Lynn.
