AUGUSTA, Ga. – Junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) of the No. 22 Georgia College golf team was selected the most recent Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Golfer of the Week. This marks the first such honor this season for Bobcat golf, and the second in Garrett’s career.
Garrett captured individual medalist honors at the Armstrong Pirate Invitational, shooting a five-under-par 137 in the two-round event. The junior trailed the leaders by two strokes after an opening-round 71, but went on a birdie binge in round two, shooting a 66 to capture the title.
The 66 is tied for the lowest single round shot in the PBC this season with GSW's J.P. Griffin, who did it at the AFLAC Cougar Invitational in the fall. Garrett's efforts helped the Bobcats to capture the team title at the event, their first win of the year.
The Pirate Invite was Garrett's second top-10 of the season and second career victory, the first coming at the First Federal Southern Collegiate in 2011.
The Bobcats will travel to that Southern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State University, for their next tournament, March 12-13.
The Georgia College Department of Athletics, two-time winners of the PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
