#21 GC Golf Puts Three on All-PBC, Trocchio Freshman of the Year

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – With the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship Tournament on tap for Monday, April 9, the conference office announced the All-PBC Teams for 2011-12, with three Bobcats earning slots.

Junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) repeated his 2011 effort with a first-team nod. Garrett was tops on the team and sixth in the PBC with his 72.8 stroke average. Winner of the 2012 Pirate Invitational in Savannah, Ga., Garrett posted nine sub-par rounds, and a pair of top-10 finishes.

Classmate Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) earns a second-team slot, the first postseason honor of his career. Smith owns a 73.4 stroke average and two top-10 finishes this season, including a season-low seventh place at the Pirate Invitational.

Freshman Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) took PBC Freshman of the Year honors as well as a spot on the All-PBC Second Team. The rookie had a team-best four top-10 finishes in his seven tournaments. Trocchio owns a 74.1 stroke average, with his season best finish of third also coming at the Pirate Invitational.

All-time the Bobcats have now put 32 golfers on the All-PBC Teams, as Trocchio becomes the third Freshman of the Year in school history. He joins Joe Young (2008) and Juan Bialet (2005) with that honor.

These three join David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) and Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) to take on the field at the 2012 PBC Championship beginning Monday. Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. will serve as the backdrop for what is sure to be one of the more competitive championships in league history.

When GC returns to the 7,057-yard, par 72 course, they will be looking to improve upon a fourth-place finish in 2011. The Bobcats have won two PBC Tournament titles, coming in 2010 and 2000.
