#21 Bobcat Golf Ready for NCAA SuperRegional

CONOVER, N.C. – The No. 21 Georgia College golf team is set to take on one of the nation’s toughest tournaments this week, the NCAA South/Southeast SuperRegional at Rock Barn Golf & Spa.

Set for 54 holes over the course of three days, Georgia College needs to finish in the tournament’s top five to advance to the NCAA Finals.

Bobcat golf brings a youthful but experienced squad, without a single senior.

All-Peach Belt Conference (PBC) First Team selection Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) leads the Bobcats to battle with a team-best 72.9 stroke average. Garrett is the lone GC golfer who has played in the Regional round before.

PBC Freshman of the Year and second team selection Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) continues to impress, leading the Bobcats at the last three tournaments, and posting a team-best five top-10 finishes on the year.

Junior Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.), an All-PBC Second Team pick, has made nine starts this season, and owns a 73.6 stroke average.  Sophomore Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) was the team leader at the First Federal Southern Collegiate in mid-March and owns a 74.4 stroke average over eight starts.

Another freshman, David Sullivan (Woodstock, Ga.) will also make his first Regional appearance. Sullivan has made eight starts with a 75.2 stroke average.

GC competes against an extremely tough field, featuring six of the top-10 teams in the most recent GolfStat Division II Head-to-Head Rankings, led by No. 1 Nova Southeastern University.
