#18 GC Golf Puts Two on PBC-All Academic Team
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) recently announced its Men’s Golf All-Academic Team, with No. 18 Georgia College taking two of the 10 spots on the squad.
Sophomore Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) joined junior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) on the academic-minded team. Garrett has made two PBC All-Academic Teams in his career. Monte makes his first appearance on this list.
Garrett owns a 3.44 in biology, with Monte putting up a 3.72 in management. Both were regular starters for the Bobcats this season. Garrett, a two-time All-PBC honoree, posted a team-low 72.7 stroke average over 10 events and Monte has had nine starts with a 74.6 average.
In the four years of the academic program, the Bobcats have had a whopping nine PBC All-Academic honorees in golf.
The teams are part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The PBC Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
