#8 GC Golf Third at Raines Intercollegiate Day One

FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 8 Georgia College golf team started the fall season on the right foot Monday, positioned third after two rounds of the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate, hosted by Francis Marion University.

The largely Division I event was hosted at the par-72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina.

The Bobcats led after a first-round 281, then slid three slots with the second-round 289. GC is six-under par, one of just four teams to post total scores sub-par. Gardner-Webb University leads at 12-under par, while Old Dominion University is just two strokes ahead of the Bobcats.

Senior All-American Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) fired rounds of 69 and 71 to lead the squad at four-under, good for fifth.

Junior Brian Fox (Roswell, Ga.) joins a Bobcat trio under par at two-under in 10th after rounds of 68 and 74. All-American Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) was the lone Bobcat to lower his score in the second round, following a 72 with a 71 for one-under in 18th.

Sophomore All-American Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) followed a 72 with a 73 and stands 29th at plus-one. Junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) shot a 72 and 76 and is 45th at four-over par.

Loyola University (Md.) standout Brendan Lemp is tied atop the leaderboard with G-W's Matthew Yelverton at eight-under par.

The final round begins tomorrow, Sept. 11.
