FLORENCE, S.C. – No. 8 Georgia College golf shot a final-round 284 Tuesday at the Raines Development Intercollegiate, leapfrogging to second place at the largely-Division I tournament hosted by Francis Marion University.

Junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) saved his best round for last, carding a three-under 69 in the final round. Monte bounced back from 45th place on day one to finish 23rd at one-over par (72-76-69). No one on any of the 16 teams carded a lower final round today.

Both sophomore Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) and senior Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) carded final-round 71s on the par-72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina. Smith finished with a share of the team lead with a three-round 214 (72-71-71), good for two-under par and 13th place. Trocchio was even par at 216 (72-73-71), a top-20 finish at 19th.

Junior Brian Fox (Roswell, Ga.) finished 16th at one-under par, following a 68 and 74 with today's 73. Senior Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) nabbed a share of the team lead at two-under with rounds of 69, 71 and 74.

The Bobcats jumped over Old Dominion University to second place, just four strokes behind winner Gardner-Webb University.

Three golfers finished tied for the individual lead, as ODU's Jamison Randall matched both Daniel Kim and Matthew Yelverton from Gardner-Webb at seven-under.

The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Sept. 17 at the Kiawah Island Invitational, where they finished sixth a season ago.
