#17 GC Golf Moves to Third after Two Rounds of NCAA SuperRegional

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The No. 17 Georgia College golf team put together another blistering set of scores to edge up one spot Tuesday at the 2013 NCAA South/Southeast SuperRegional. The Bobcats now stand in third place at 10-over par.

Taking on a tough 20-team field, the Bobcats need to finish in the top-seven to advance to the NCAA Finals. The Bobcats fired a seven-over 295 on the par-72, 6,928-yard El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort, combined with yesterday's 291.

Junior Victor Monte (Chantilly, Va.) owned the best round for the Bobcats today at even par. Monte thrived on the back nine, going two-under after birdies on the par five Nos. 10 and 14. He owns a two-round one-over score, good for eighth overall among 108 golfers.

Junior Bryan Fox (Roswell, Ga.) and senior All-American Taylor Smith (Mansfield, Ga.) both shot 74 today. Fox shot even par on the back nine, balancing three bogeys to three birdies. Smith echoed the second-nine success, going one-under on the back half. Fox ranks second on the team in 18th place at three-over, while Smith is fourth at plus-seven in 42nd.

Sophomore All-American Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Ga.) also posted a counting round of three-over, combined with yesterday's 73 for a four-over total. Trocchio is in 24th place, having birdied the par-five No. 14 on both days.

Senior two-time All-American Patrick Garrett (Kennesaw, Ga.) led the team yesterday, but was seven over today. He's at plus-seven overall as well in 42nd place after two rounds.

No. 1 Nova Southeastern University leads the field at five-under with a 287 and 284. No. 2 Barry University is second, a whopping nine strokes behind. The Bobcats are six strokes behind second place and 12 ahead of eighth.

NSU's Recardo Celia and Ben Taylor share the individual lead at three-under par. USC Aiken's J.P. Solis is a stroke behind in second.

The final round tees off tomorrow, May 8 as the Bobcats play with the lead group of Barry and NSU. Garrett will get things rolling for Georgia College, teeing off at 12:50 p.m. for the second-straight day.
