MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College golf team currently holds the No. 4 spot in the newly released NCAA Regional Golf Rankings. The GC golf team currently sits at the No. 4 position in the Southeast region of Division II.

The Bobcats are trailing Peach Belt Conference (PBC) foes USC Aiken at No. 1 and No. 3 Columbus State University, in between the two PBC teams is No. 2 ranked Belmont Abbey College of the Conference Carolinas. Trailing GC Golf in the Southeast Region is No. 5 Armstrong, No.7 Georgia Southwestern State University, No. 8 Barton College, No. 9 Erskine College, No. 9 Mount Olive College, and No. 10 King College.

The NCAA Region Golf Rankings decide which teams are able to advance to the region tournament. For a team to extend their season to the regional tournament the team can either win their conference; there are three conference Championships up for grabs: Conference Carolina, PBC, and South Atlantic Conference (SAC). If a team is unable to win their conference championship, then the NCAA Golf Regional Rankings poll gives the top seven teams in each region a ticket to the regional tournament.

The GC golf team is currently in the No. 4 slot in the Southeast Region, which if the season ended today, will allow them to advance to the regional tournament.  The Bobcats have an opportunity to guarantee a spot in the regional championship, if they win the upcoming PBC Tournament.

The GC golf team is back in action April 20 in Pine Mountain, Ga. Playing in the PBC Championship.
